Ryan

Ryan Sylvia was a 4 sport lettered athlete at ORR who graduated in 2001. A 2000-01 team leader in rebounds for the ORR varsity basketball team, a 2000 spring varsity baseball player, an SCC All Star Track star who qualified for States in 3 separate spring track events, a top 3 Otto Graham 2001 finalist nominee representing ORRHS; but it was his gridiron play and leadership skills that anchored Ryan to his H.O.F. nomination.

Noting how Ryan evolved from a defensive leader in interceptions at safety to a starting quarterback position in his senior year he was the catalyst to an ORR Championship Team that year. As football Coach Craig Sherman tells it, “Perhaps more than his running and throwing ability, it was his leadership and his competitive spirit that contributed to our success…

It should be further noted that Ryan seemed completely disinterested in his personal success, but was completely invested in helping his team achieve that championship success.” “ That team obviously loved the game, they played with a purpose and a passion and reveled in winning” “Ryan’s inspirational play was a contributing factor to this team’s success.”
